Electrical kits

Electrical kits for trailer couplings are the electrical connection between towing vehicles and trailers or the peripherals networked with them.

What do vehicle-specific electrical kits for trailer couplings mean?

These electrical kits are specially designed for the respective vehicle types, which is characterized by the following features:

  • All lengths are precisely dimensioned for the corresponding vehicles,
  • Power and ground connections are connected to the specified points on the vehicle,
  • the required signals of the vehicle on-board network, for example the tail lights / preparation plugs / on-board network control units, are taken with vehicle-specific housings / contacts pre-assembled on the electrical kit
  • required control units / sockets / grommets of the vehicle-specific electrical kit are exactly matched to the vehicle's peripherals,
  • the complete mounting material is included in the electrical kit and thus allows a professional installation without additional materials
  • The illustrated installation instructions describe the installation steps to be carried out in exact steps.

What are the advantages of vehicle-specific electrical kits?

  • Reduced installation times thanks to suitable cable lengths, pre-assembled connectors and contacts
  • Durable / error-free operation thanks to clean installation in the designated locations.
  • Lowest material costs as all necessary accessories are already included in the electrical kit.

Modules

CFC

The CFC trailer module is an LED-capable 12V module for vehicles with CAN bus system. Through communication with the CAN bus, the module is able to take over further tasks in addition to the actual trailer control and function monitoring, such as PDC shutdown with connected trailer or activation of the electronic trailer stabilisation (TSA: Trailer Stability Assist). CFC trailer modules are always vehicle-specific and therefore not universally applicable.

AFC

The LED-AFC trailer module is a universal LED-compatible 12V module for vehicles. The module is able to monitor the turn signals on the trailer and informs the vehicle of a turn signal failure.

UFC

The UFC trailer module is a universal LED-compatible 12V module for vehicles with one or two rear fog lights. The module is able to monitor the turn signals on the trailer and informs the vehicle of a turn signal failure. If the vehicle is in trailer mode and this trailer is equipped with a rear fog light, the module switches off the rear fog light on the vehicle. The module is optionally available with PDC cut-off.

BUFC

The functions of the BUFC trailer module are identical to those of the UFC, except that a failure of the indicators on the trailer is not reported to the vehicle, but occurs directly via the module using an acoustic signal. In contrast to the UFC, the optional PDC cut-off is not available for this module.

Test equipment

Our testing devices are compactly built into a case.

The universal test case is the one-man function test of 7- and 13-pole trailer sockets. It contains a complete trailer lighting system, and the simply designed control panel makes the functions

  • the trailer indicator light monitoring system,
  • the switching off of the rear fog lights,
  • the support of driver assistance systems
  • and the parking aid deactivation

easy to control.

For testing the lighting system on 12-volt trailers with 7- and 13-pin trailer sockets, this compact testing device offers all necessary functions. The light channels can be switched on and off individually, and can be checked at any time using the built-in indicator light on the switches. Furthermore, the case offers the possibility to adequately test the continuous positive line at pole 9, as well as the charging lines at poles 10 and 11.

7-pin trailer plug connection

This plug connection according to DIN/ISO 1724, which is inexpensive to purchase but not watertight, is sufficient to operate the legally required lighting of a trailer or caravan (see also allocation plan). It is sufficient as a connection for the exclusive operation of the trailer lighting.

However, as soon as the trailer lighting includes a reversing light, or a power supply for the trailer is required, e.g. for the caravan's refrigerator, or a trailer battery is desired, this connection is no longer sufficient because there are too few contacts available.

13-pin trailer plug connection

* All ground lines (contact no. 3, 11 and 13) must not be electrically connected to each other on the trailer side.

** The number plate illumination shall be connected in such a way that no light of this device is connected to both contacts (No 5 and 7).
